Who We Are

The National Collegiate Breaking Association is a non-profit organization that was started in April of 2022 as an initiative by Peter Chang and Susanna Liu to help support collegiate breaking clubs and create a national framework for intercollegiate competition. The flagship events of the NCBA are the summertime Leadership Summit for college club leaders and the competitive Breaking Championship Series. The inaugural year saw the active participation of over 200 college breakers from 30 different colleges across the US.

PETER CHANG

Peter Chang (Bboy Peach) grew up in East Tennessee, where he developed an interest in breaking at a young age but never had a community to learn from until he went to college.

In 2014, he joined Harvard Breakers and started attending his first jams. In 2016, he threw the first Battle for Boston, one of the major intercollegiate events on the east coast. Since then he also co-founded the Practice Terrain Battle Series in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia region (DMV) before co-founding the National Collegiate Breaking Association along with Queen NV.

As a competitor, Peach travelled extensively post-college, notably placing 2nd at the 2019 Radikal Forze footwork competition and being invited to the 2022 Red Bull BC1 Southeast Regional.

SUSANNA LIU

Susanna Liu (Queen NV) started breaking in college at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2003 where she started organizing events, including the first documented intercollegiate breaking battle, and developed into one of the best bgirls in the nation.

After moving to New York City, she started Breaks U in 2007 in collaboration with NYU, which became the largest intercollegiate breaking battle in the country and spurred on the development of many other intercollegiate battles. Her work with the NCBA is a continuation of decades worth of contributions to the collegiate scene. Queen NV represents Supreme Beingz crew and Florox Crew.

ANNA PONCE

Anna Leah Ponce (Duck-e) grew up in California and started breaking in high school. It was when she went to college at Loyola Marymount University (LMU) in 2008 where she started to learn more about breaking and the community.

She eventually became president of the breaking club at LMU, where she led the event, Schools 4 Fools. After graduating, she continued to organize the event for several years. In 2017, she started the Unified Collegiate Breaking League, also known as UCBL, which became an official organization hosting the largest West Coast intercollegiate breaking competition. Duck-e joins NCBA to help further support the intercollegiate breaking scene as the West Coast regional director.
